Wireless Messaging Platform Error Codes

The following error codes are used within the OpenMarket Wireless Messaging Platform. Every error has an error code, error class, and description attached to it. An error code in the range of 100 - 300 is specifically reserved for client-side errors that differ among all SMS Software Development Kit versions.

AT&T, Nextel, Boost, Alltel, Suncom, Dobson - Failed message delivery: retry prohibited. Billing was successful, however the subsequent text message delivery failed.

Sprint, Virgin - Failed message delivery: retry prohibited. Text message delivery and billing failed. However, due to carrier policy, retries are prohibited.

T-Mobile, Verizon - Failed message delivery: retry once every 24 hours for up to 1 week. Text message delivery and billing failed. Halt billiing attempts if retries fail repeatedly.

811 Message validity period expired. Retry Prohibited Message expired; usually due to carrier side delivery failure
901 Destination Address is not a VZW MMS Phone. Retry Prohibited

2018 Subscriber payment method is invalid Retry Prohibited
2020 Subscriber over spending limit. Retry once every week for up to 1 month. For postpaid, the subscriber has gone over their spending limit for the current billing cycle. For prepaid, the subscriber does not have sufficient funds in their account to pay for the purchase.
2021 Service not available for user. Retry Prohibited
2022 Subscriber is not eligible for mobile billing. Retry Prohibited An unsupported prepaid platform like Tracfone - a reseller on Cingular or ATT. It also can mean a phone is not billing eligible, for example if they called Cingular and requested all premium is blocked.
2023 User not found on carrier network. Retry Prohibited Subscriber phone number was not matched in the Qpass system or AWS Portal. Non-Sprint MIN phone number -- not a customer of Sprint or MVNO of Sprint.
2024 Mobile user's account suspended. Retry once every week for up to 1 month for all Carriers except Sprint.
Retry Prohibited for Sprint
Mobile user's account suspended or past due. For Sprint accounts, this generally means the account has been blocked;billing retries will be tracked by Sprint and may cause a program audit.
2025 Carrier does not support premium billing with the supplied short code. Retry Prohibited Not a participating carrier in the premium program.
2026 Carrier does not support this price point. Retry Prohibited Ineligible Product: Both MSISDN and Mobile Id are associated to the same account: check for duplicate: An instance of com.qpass.common.dataobjects.identifier. MINData already exists. Invalid product Id on Sprint.

2028 Subscriber has run out of prepaid credits. Retry Prohibited Unlike error 2020, we do not suggest retrying this error as the carrier will track attempts of re-billing and potentially audit your program.
2029 Subscriber has been blocked from premium billing. Retry Prohibited Subscriber phone is blacklisted on T-Mobile
2030 Subscriber is on MVNO and is blocked. Retry Prohibited MNVO, means someone is piggy backing the carrier, does not allow txt/premium For T-Mobile - MVNO blocking delivery; For Sprint - Invalid Reseller meaning MVNO does not support charging

2032 Short code is not certified on carrier. Retry Prohibited

2035 User not found on Nextel or Boost. Retry for up to 24 hours An e-Wallet registration request was sent to the Nextel/Boost subscriber to authorize the premium billing on their phone. Halt billing attempts if messages repeatedly fail since it is likely the user has not/will not register their e-Wallet. Please note that the transaction status and ReasonID will be updated to 2014 after 24 hours.
2036 Tax failed on transaction. Retry Prohibited Usually means customer information is incorrect in carrier's database and it indicates subscriber is not elligible for billing.
2038 Charge Capacity Exceeded Retry Prohibited Number of successful billing charges against the product configured in the carrier has reached the maximum allowed limit.

3041 De-activated number - Standard. Retry Prohibited Occurs when a standard rate SMS message is sent to a deactivated number.
3042 De-activated number - Premium. Retry Prohibited Occurs when a premium rate SMS message is sent to a deactivated number.
4010 Subscription already exists. Retry Prohibited Occurs when an attempt is made to initiate a subscription that is already active, for example, when a duplicate subscription purchase is attempted.
4020 Subscription purchase not found. Retry Prohibited Occurs when an attempt is made to conclude or renew a subscription that is not yet active, for example, if the initial subscription purchase was never successfully processed.
4021 Subscription expired. Retry Prohibited Occurs when an attempt is made to conclude a subscription that has been concluded and is no longer active.
4030 Subscription renewal attempt error: Already billed for this period. Retry at the end of the montly billing period. Occurs when an attempt is made to renew a subscription before the monthly billing period is complete. The renewal should be retried at the end of the monthly billing period
4031 Subcription renewal attempt error: Subscription renewal status cannot be determined. Retry every 24 hours for up to 1 week Occurs when renewal status has not yet been received from the carrier and the renewal is still pending. If subscription renewal attempts fail beyond the recommended retry period please contact OpenMarket Support for assistance troubleshooting.
4032 Renewal attempt error: Subscription has already expired Retry Prohibited Occurs when an attempt is made to renew a subscription that has been concluded and is no longer active. Either of the following may have occurred: a) the carrier managing recurring billing was unable to renew the subscription and has cancelled the user's subscription, or b) the subscription was previously concluded by the merchant and is no longer active.
4033 Subscription successfully cancelled, message delivery failed. Standard Rate SMS ONLY Subscription cancellation succeeded, but the subsequent text message delivery failed. Therefore ONLY a standard rate SMS message (i.e. ChargeType = 0) containing the original text message should be resent.
4050 Subscription already concluded. Retry Prohibited An attempt is made to conclude or renew a subscription that is has already been concluded, but is still active.
4051 Subscription conclude attempt error. Retry every 24 hours for up to 1 week. Occurs when an attempt is made to conclude a subscription and OpenMarket is unable to determine the current status of the subscription. If subscription conclude attempts fail beyond the recommended retry period please contact OpenMarket Support for assistance troubleshooting.
