SMS is the #1 Mobile Engagement Tool
OpenMarket, a leading enterprise mobile engagement company, today introduced an infographic detailing how businesses are adapting to the shift to mobile devices. The graph also showcases the challenges that in-house IT departments have experienced with mobile engagement, and the opportunity for enterprises to leverage technology partners with flexible mobile engagement platforms that can serve the entire organization.
Based on key findings from a commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of OpenMarket titled, “The Rise of Holistic Enterprise Mobile Engagement,” the infographic illustrates how mobile is becoming a top business priority, with 74% of business leaders considering mobile phones an important channel for engaging with their customers, employees and partners, nearly tying PCs at 79%. Additionally, 63% of enterprises consider customer engagement the key to their mobile communication strategy, and that engaging with customers trumps driving revenue through the mobile platform. The infographic reveals that most businesses incorporate a variety of tools, such as SMS, MMS and QR codes, into their mobile strategy today, with 70% of the enterprises surveyed using SMS notifications to communicate with their key audiences.
These stats and figures provide more than an overview of the enterprise mobile engagement landscape. They reveal opportunities for businesses looking to improve customer satisfaction, provide support or generate new revenue by adding mobile to their engagement plan. The infographic shows that organizations are struggling with the mobile shift with 55% of businesses reporting integration expense as the top mobile concern. In addition, 63% of enterprises are spending less than $5 million each year on mobile, but it remains questionable if they are spending enough to sustain more than a few ongoing projects. The study revealed that almost four in 10 businesses are using internal staff to custom build mobile solutions, and 31% employ 50 or more people to work on mobile initiatives. This suggests that enterprises would be better suited seeking technology partners and mobile engagement platforms that can accelerate their mobile strategy.
