Using Console

Console is a powerful tool for viewing, in real-time, the text messages received by your MEP campaigns. It provides a simple and cost effective way to:

  • View user feedback and opinions in real-time to keep them engaged and to keep services as relevant as possible
  • Review, select and download or print user-generated content, like reading out messages texted into a radio station
  • Monitor messages received on a routing code or keyword to ensure that the marketing efforts have a clear call to action and are generating results

Console inboxes

Console organizes messages into inboxes. Each inbox can store many millions of messages, and messages remain in the inbox indefinitely.

From a console inbox, you can:

  • View messages coming into the inbox in real-time, or pause your view
  • Scroll instantaneously through the all messages in the inbox
  • Search and filter messages either by content or date range
  • Print or download (as a .csv file) all messages, or selected messages

Messages are forwarded to an inbox through a service. Inbox forwarding is very flexible. Any number of services can forward messages to one inbox. A single service can forward messages to many inboxes.

Create a Console inbox

To create a console inbox:

  1. Click the Console tab.
  2. Click Create Inbox.

The Create Inbox dialog box appears.

  3. Enter a Name for the inbox.
  4. Enter an optional Description for the inbox.
  5. From the Initial View drop-down list, select the default view for this inbox. Note that you can change this view while in the inbox.
  6. Click Save to create your inbox.

Forward messages to an inbox

To forward messages to an inbox from a MEP service:

  1. Click the Services tab, and then navigate to the service editor for the service.

    The Service Editor appears

  2. At the point you want messages forwarded, select Forward SMS from the Handlers > Send navigation pane.

The handler forwards the most recent message received in the service. If your service receives multiple SMS messages from the end user, then you can forward each message by using multiple Forward SMS handlers.

  3. Select the Forward SMS handler.
  4. In the properties for the handler:
    1. From the Forward to, drop-down list, select Console Inbox.

The Console Inbox drop-down list box appears.

    2. From the Console Inbox drop-down list, select the inbox to which you want messages forwarded.
    3. Save the service.
