BT text-to-voice support

BT offers text-to-voice support to most UK landline numbers, enabling you to message landline phones just like you would with mobile phones. The recipient will end up with the message in one of two ways:

  • If they have a text-enabled landline phone (and BT's Caller Display) then the message is displayed as a written text.
  • If they don't have a text-enabled phone, then they will get your text as a voice message.

You do not need to provision this feature or change your message requests to send a text to a landline number. However, there are some restrictions:

  • You must use a numeric originator; e.g. a short code or VMN. Alphanumeric originators will cause the message to fail.
  • In your request, the end user's number must include the country code; e.g. 442089871555.
  • There are restrictions on what time of day you can send messages to a landline.

Further restrictions and details are available from BT, or contact your OpenMarket account manager.

See help for an explanation of each field.
